who is Osho?
Osho also known as Rajneesh, is one of the best known controversial spiritual master of the 20th century. He was born in Madhya Pradesh in India in 1931. We can understand that he was spontaneous and rebellious in his childhood days. Osho says, while listening to my childhood stories, you should try to look for some quality, not just the story, but some intrinsic quality, that runs like a thin thread through all my memoirs, and that thin thread is spiritual. Spiritual to me simply means finding oneself. He received gold medal for his university studies in MA philosophy, but he threw the gold medal into a well saying that the gold medal was merely a piece of gold, which has the foul smell of ambition. He worked as a rebel-less philosophy professor in the 1960s, and traveled extensively throughout India, giving talks, debating with traditional religious leaders. In 1966, he resigned his professor job to devote himself entirely to the rising of human consciousness. He resigned with a note saying, this is not education, this is sheer stupidity. You are not teaching anything significant. He rather recommended a five-day emotional teaching method, which to me seems the most relevant method even today. He introduced a revolutionary active meditation technique called dynamic meditation for the modern man.
This meditation begins with a period of uninhibited movement and catharsis, followed by a period of silence and sillness. This meditation technique was scientifically designed by Oshou. Oshou says, this is a meditation which you have to be continuously alert, consciously aware. Whatever you do remain a witness. All his spontaneous talks were recorded made into books. Now there are thousands of books available nearly 60 languages worldwide. In 1968, Oshou was invited to Bombay to give a series of talks on love in an auditorium. In his first discourse, Oshou explained that love and meditation are the transformation of sexual energy, and that if sexy suppressed, it cannot be transformed. Oshou emphasized, transcendence of sexual energy. Many people are outraged and the owners of the auditorium had to cancel the series. After a couple of months Oshou returned to complete the talks to a very large audience. The series is published under the title from sex to super consciousness, which becomes his most red book until today. Eventually, he was labeled as a sex guru. He had been speaking on Jesus on Krishna and Buddha and Mahavira. He was speaking on all other traditions of religion, has itism, Zen, Sufism. He had spoken on almost important people who had contributed something to human consciousness. Lawzhu, Chantashu, Lizhu, Bodhidharma, Bukhujhu, Sakratis, Paitagoras, Zarathustra, Kabir, Shankara, Dado, Malarepa, Marpa, Nagarjuna, Vasubandhu, Ramakrishna, Ramana Magarishi, wherever he found a man who has contributed to human consciousness, whether it was Greece, Heraclitis, Dajiniis, Dainisis, or it was Tibet or it was China or it was Arabia. It did not matter to him. He has covered almost the whole world. In 1974, an Oshou was established in Pona to offer a variety of transformation tools for both Indian and international visitors. This Oshram is known as Oshou International Meditation Resort and offers a wide variety of therapy sessions and meditation programs. In 1981, the American disciples purchased a 64,000 acre ranch in Oregon in the U.S., and a city called Rajnish Shbhram was made. It served as a commune for people to visit an experienced meditation. He was talking about the real face of priests and politicians and exposing them to the world. They both were against him. More and more people started moving and settling down in the commune. The priests and politicians were against this and they were trying to find a way to pull him down. In 1984, Oshou ended his three years of self-imposed silence. By the time he was out, his sacred trichilla and a group of others had done a whole bunch of calamity including poisoning, arson, wire tapping and an attempted murder. The authorities who investigated this saw this as a golden opportunity to destroy the commune entirely. In October 1985, Oshou was arrested without warrants, along with few others. While the others were released, he was held without bail for 12 days. Subsequent events indicate that it is probable that he was poisoned with the heavy metal thalium while in that jail. During his self-imposed silence period, his sacred trichilla was in the formation of a new religion called Rajnish Shambhu. Which was later stopped by Oshou. He said, I have been always against all isms because they have all become presents sooner or later. I want my people to be free from many isms. Talking about mind problems, Oshou said that your problems can be many but I have only one medicine that is meditation. He offered a wide variety of meditation techniques. He asked people to try every technique and bring the one that suits them the best for everyday practice. He emphasized on the birth of a new man, which he called Zorba the Buddha, Zorba is a person who enjoys the materialistic world, whereas Buddha enjoys the inner world. Oshou says the new man has to enjoy both. He has to bridge both. That is why his Oshram in Pune is named as meditation resort, which covers both these aspects. Meditation is for the Buddha inside and the resort part is for the Zorba inside us. During the second week of January 1990, Oshou's body became noticeably weaker. On January 18, he was so physically weak that he was unable to come to Gautama the Buddha auditorium in Pune Ashram. On January 19, his pulse became irregular. When his doctor inquired whether they should prepare for a cardiac treatment, Oshou said, no, just let me go. Existent decides its timing. He left his body at 5pm, at 7pm, his body was brought to Gautama the Buddha auditorium for a celebration and is then carried to the burning guards for cremation. Two days later, his ashes were brought to Oshou communal international and placed in his Samadhi in Chantuzu auditorium with an inscription which reads, Oshou never bound, never died, only visited this planet earth between 11 December 1931 and 19 December 1919.
How osho died? or killed by someone?
There are 6 consiprancy theories that prove Osho’s death was as controversial as his life:-
Instead Of Calling A Doctor From The Ashram, The Doctor Who Signed Osho’s Death Certificate Was Called From His Residence In Pune
According to The Quint, Dr. Gokul Gokani was summoned to the Pune ashram on the afternoon of 19 January 1990 and told by Swami Devaraj (Osho’s personal physician) and Jayesh that Osho was dying. However, there were several doctors already present at the ashram, and it’s strange that none of them were called in earlier.
Dr. Gokul Gokani Later Claimed He Suspected Foul Play In The Passing Of Osho.
In 2015, Dr. Gokani recorded a video statement where he claimed that Devaraj and Jayesh had locked Osho up in a room for hours and prevented him from meeting doctors
Gokani was asked to write myocardial infarction as the cause of death so as not to arouse suspicion. However, according to Abhay Vaidya, author of Who Killed Osho, several people think Osho was poisoned via drug overdose.
Osho’s Body Was Hurriedly Cremated Without Any Proper Explanation.
Devaraj and Jayesh apparently told everyone that Osho wanted his body cremated immediately, and that they should take darshan from a distance for all of 15 minutes.
After a hurried public announcement, Osho was cremated within an hour of his death. Questions still remain about why this was all done so quickly.
Even Osho’s Closest Family Was Not Informed About His Passing Until Much Later.
Osho’s mother, who was present in the ashram herself, was not informed about his critical status during the day. She was only told once he had passed. Neelam, Osho’s secretary said to ABP News –
“When I told her Osho had left the body, she said, ‘Neelam, they have killed him.’ I told her it was not the appropriate time to accuse anyone.”
The Untimely And Mysterious Death Of Osho’s Caretaker And Former Girlfriend 41 Days Before He Himself Died Was Extremely Suspicious.
Abhay Vaidya’s book also touches upon the circumstances of Ma Prem Nirvano’s (Vivek) death, who was just 40 and in good physical health. In the book, it says –
Her body was hurriedly cremated in secrecy by a few members of the coterie and to this day her death is spoken about in whispers.
Osho’s ‘Will’ Was Produced In Court In 2013, Even Though The Existence Of It Had Been Denied For Decades Prior.
In 2013, the Osho International Foundation, now controlled by Jayesh, produced Osho’s will in a European court and claimed a legal right to all his properties, rights and assets. These were the same people who had categorically denied the existence of any will for 23 years.
The will was later declared a forged document by forensic scientists and it was finally withdrawn from the case.
Conclusion
His death remains a mystery to this day. While he didn't achieve conventional success after, Osho continues to have an international presence with his own organization running, and his ashrams are still open, managed by his disciples. Despite a controversial life, there was a group that considered Osho the greatest philosopher of the 20th century. His followers address him as Bhagwan Rajneesh or simply Osho, worship him, keep his photos in their homes. It's quite accurate to say Osho was one of the greatest philosophers of the 20th century if we remove controversial aspects. His arguments in politics, ideology, and religion were valid, and today it's nearly impossible to counter his arguments. This is why youth from today and 50 years ago were impressed by his ideas, thinking Osho was entirely against religion, which wasn't true. He criticized some aspects of religion that seemed important and reasonable to him, but he also supported many things. Osho never relied on politics or religion for maintaining his image or stopping someone from taking action against him. This was one of his best qualities. Osho always spoke openly about his beliefs. Based on his speeches, many books have been published in various subjects like philosophy, science, ecology, environment, political ideology, and religion, and many arguments are available on the internet today. No one has yet been able to answer these arguments, but even after achieving so much, people today know him as a sex guru. It's true what he did was controversial, and somewhere, it's also true that one wrong step erased all his good achievements. Osho was such a mystery that understanding him was almost impossible. Defining Osho is almost impossible. His entire life was filled with controversy, and throughout his life, he remained a mystery that no one could solve.
